Saying Yes to Forward Steps

What began as a day of tackling a few things I had been avoiding became a reminder that progress does not always arrive in one huge moment. Sometimes it begins when we say yes to one forward step, then another.

The Things I Had Been Putting Off

Today was one of those days that reminded me how good it feels to finally say YES to the things I had been struggling with or putting off.

It was not one big accomplishment.

It was a collection of forward steps that helped me rebuild momentum, a task at a time.

Heck, with my ADHD, I didn’t let anything stop me, and I held my focus.

To start with, I finished the first half of a huge computer project that has taken me many weeks.

Then, I also found the unfinished Tide Break article that I’d been frantically looking for.

The article was one I had written and accidentally misplaced months ago, before I had a chance to finish it.

It was definitely in a writing app… inside my computer, but which one, where?

I was sure it was probably lost forever.

The sadness I felt.

I can’t begin to tell you how discouraged I felt when I couldn’t find it, and how hard I’d looked for it.

Finding Words I Thought I Had Lost

This article is actually what started the huge computer project that I finished this weekend.

The one I mentioned above.

The one that has taken me so long to finish, and still I was sure I wouldn’t find the article.

It was driving me crazy to know it was here!! To lose something, but know it’s within reach, but where?

The wonder kept spinning in my head, and I couldn’t let it go until I had exhausted every avenue to find it.

This may seem a bit crazy, but OMGoodness, I was so relieved when it was found with some AI help.

Shout-out to ChatGPT for helping me find my article!

One Accomplishment Led to Another

So, I go to my website to start working on it only to find it’s broken.

The main page was up, but everything else was going to a 404 redirect page (can’t be found), so I worked on and fixed the pages and got the website working.

Yes again, with a little help from ChatGPT.

Then I took it one step further and started building the idea for a brand-new blog article from everything this productive day brought up.

I also made several notes, watched a few software trainings, began setting up an important learning program that I’m returning to, made some phone calls, and checked off a few more things that had been sitting on my to-do list far too long.

Woohoo! 😄

Saying Yes to the Next Forward Step

It wasn’t just one huge, exploding-fireworks-in-the-sky type of accomplishment.

It was a collection of many smaller things.

It was a day when I stopped letting ADHD, overwhelm, and avoidance run the day and focused on doing one thing at a time.

Sometimes We Need Fresh Eyes and Help

Honestly, the day felt so productive, satisfying, and eye-opening.

Sometimes the things weighing on us are not as impossible as they feel.

We may need to step away for a while, come back with fresh eyes, ask for help, or simply say YES to taking the next step.

I’m grateful for the progress, relieved to have some answers, and pretty proud of myself for not letting “I’ll do it later” win today.

Oh, and I found my article. LOL

Saying Yes to the Next Forward Step

One thing at a time really does add up, especially when we keep our blinders on and focus on the task in front of us.

Why did I Say YES!

A special shout-out to my business coach and good friend, Martha Brown.

Her ‘Say YES’ challenge encouraged me to stop circling around (flat out ignoring) some of these things and start moving forward again.

I’ll add a link to Martha’s Skool group here for anyone who’d like to check it out, learn more, and join us.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

This post will also be linked on my Facebook page, and I’d love to hear from you.

What is one thing you are ready to say YES to? 🩵🌊

When you’re ready to take that next step forward, I’d love to hear what change is stirring in your heart.
